Traditional

Since I live in the UK, I've rediscovered the tradition of sending cards for all occasions and especially in Christmas season. I mean real paper cards, not electronic ones... Around this period, we can see cards everywhere! in front of windows, in offices... I found it very friendly and welcoming!

Humor

All photos by Martin Parr

2) Sand bay, England, from "Common Sense", 1997
3) Horncastle, Lincolnshire England, from "Common Sense", 1998
4) Jurmula, Latvia, 1999

For Martin Parr, the moral atrophy and preposterousness of our daily lives means we can only find salvation through adopting a certain sense of humor.

If you're ready to go a step further... you shoud try this!

Corner View - Earth Day

Photo taken in the Mercantour National park, in the Valley of Marvels, a UNESCO biosphere reserve in Southern France. Many prehistoric engravings can be found in this place, some of them being interpreted as an ancient cult to earth divinities...

Corner View - Spring

Spring is back!

Photos by Grey Lemon

Last week, the trees in the park accross the street went blossoming, and I tried some shots during the 5min sunshine we had yesterday... finally decided to bring a (small!) branch home, escaping the wind and the next heavy shower...

Corner View - Front Door

Here's a classical front door with a touch of colors!
This is the entrance of an artists' studio.

Can you guess where it is located? well was...

EDIT: Yes Emma, Ötli and Line, you're right, this was in Paris! Ten years ago, not in Montmartre, not near canal St Martin, nor in XIIIe, XXe... but in the middle of the Rue de Rivoli! One day I saw giant flowers growing on the building facade, artists took over the 59 rue de Rivoli with an "Electron Libre" banner. And I'm just learning it's re-opening under the name 59 Rivoli to become an alternative artistic center...

Corner View - Your Style

For this Corner View, I present you my paper dressing!

Shirt by Elisabeth Lecourt

Let's start with Elisabeth Lecourt's artwork. She creates some beautiful pleated dresses and also these geographic shirts which makes me travel.

Jean and dress by House Wear

Then a jean, a simple dress with a funny design... in the same style, more graphic there is also the campbell of Warhol (ideal for pop parties) and in the "haute couture" spirit there's the Elisabeth de Borchgrave ones, awesome...

Stilettos by Jennifer Collier

And for the shoes I can't resist to the delicate stilettos of Jennifer Collier! Classic and timeless they match everything.

Corner View - Holiday

A walk on my favourite beach on the 1st of January, we arrived a bit late... the light was incredible, golden with pink reflects on the clouds, everything was wrapped in an irized veil... an amazing sunset!

Photo Grey Lemon

Corner View - Books

This week Jane's Corner View theme is Books.

I'm taking this opportunity to present you the incredible artwork of Su Blackwell, an english artist I really love!

Fairy tales literally emerge from the books, with strange and fragile scenery, enchanted forests, butterflies escaping from the pages, as if the story was taking shape... A wonderful universe, a work in many volumes!

Su Blackwell - Edinburgh Show

Her paper sculptures are actually presented in Scotland at the Edinburgh Show until the 24th of December 2009, and also in the great exhition "Slash: Paper Under the Knife" at the Museum of Art and Design, New York until the 4th of April 2010.

Su Blackwell - The Lake and the Boat
